We have very busy around our house between the nursery and the kitchen but everything is coming together nicely.

Here is a sneak peak of the kitchen...

The hood is getting installed tomorrow and they have a few touch ups to take care of but by the end of the week we should have our kitchen 100% back.

Fall was definitely in the air this morning! Heading to work and it not being 80 degrees felt amazing...it was actually right below 70. Fall in Atlanta is one of my favorite times of year but I realistically I know we have a few more weeks of the temperatures in the 90's!

I love bags of all shapes and sizes! I have cleaned out my stash so I need to replenish my collection. I did order a k.slademade ikat clutch this week. I wrote this post a couple weeks back when I found her Etsy shop.

Well, last week thanks to the blog world again I came across Raina Tote and Shopping Bag. Lindsay over at From the Aisle to Aloha featured the bag in one of her round ups. The 2 best things about it are the adjustable straps and it's washable...plus it is only $39!

We are in full kitchen remodel mode and hope to be complete in about 4 weeks. We have been in the planning in the design phase for the past couple months so by now we have a pretty good idea what we will end up with.

Mindless Monday...My Birthday Weekend

I know I was mia last week but between work and getting ready for our kitchen demo, which is starting right now, I have been a little preoccupied. I did however take my birthday off on Friday and spent the day shopping, lunch with the hubby, a massage and then some pool action.

I had a wonderful 29th birthday weekend and here it is in a nut shell...

We kicked it off Thursday night at the Rascal Flatts concert...it was a nice surprise I got on Thursday morning!

I got a little snuggle time with my buddy on Friday morning!

Enjoying the pool after some shopping!

Amazing dinner at Woodfire Grill (Kevin Gillespie from Top Chef is the owner)! I loved the personalized menu! We went with the 5-course tasting which was a great experience!

A little hot chocolate and danish from Corner Cafe after church on Sunday!

Demo starts today so we had to empty out the kitchen this weekend. I will have more on the kitchen renovation later but there is a before shot!

I know it's not the time to be thinking of getting another dog with the little bean on the way but the hubby and I want a French Bulldog for next addition. They are just the cutest things!

Perfect Picnic

July is National Picnic Month but unfortunately with the hot temperatures we are having in Atlanta it is not the best condition for a picnic. I came across this DIY chevron picnic blanket at Twig & Thistle and I think it is a project that I could handle.

Times sure have changed on the blog...my loves have gone from purses and shoes to diaper bags! When I started my search for a diaper bag I thought about getting a large purse that I could use as one, I found a few that could work but of course were above what I was looking to spend...go figure!

Then I came across the Marc by Marc Jacobs Pretty Eliz-a-Baby Nylon Baby Bag at Bloomingdales. It was perfect...durable material, two strap options, black and stylish of course!

One of my favorite blogs to follow is Design Darling. Mackenzie does a fabulous job covering interior decor and fashion. Earlier this week she highlighted a new sponsor for Design Darling, k.slademade and I love it!

The main focus of k.slademade are the clutches-large, small and fold-overs...all are very in right now!

The one above and below are my favorites...I may need to purchase one soon!

She also makes a few different styles of bracelets that are on my wish list.

k.slademade's goodies are reasonably priced and seem like excellent quality. She also has a blog that is fun to follow and more products shown on her website.

Recipe: Summer Pickles

Hope you had a great 4th of July weekend! We sure did and I wanted to share a recipe with you that was a hit on Saturday. It is a family recipe that started with my sister, Mary, and then my sister-in-law, Sarah, adapted it too.

Ingredients:

3 nice sized cucumbers sliced thin
1 small onion sliced thin
1 cup of apple cider vinegar
1 cup of water
1/2 cup sugar
Dill and salt to taste

Slice your cucumbers and onions into a bowl. (I used a mandolin so I could get them thin and even) While you are slicing, in a pan on the stove mix vinegar, water and sugar. Heat until the mixture reaches a slow boil. Add salt and dill to taste, I use fresh dill when I can but, dried dill works too. Poor liquid mixture over the sliced cucumber, onions, salt and dill. Chill in the fridge in a covered bowl. They will keep in the fridge for a good amount of time.

These summer pickles are a refreshing snack and can be eaten on their own but the best way is to spread a bit of cream cheese on a cracker and top it with a couple pickles.

I am thoroughly enjoying my extra day off and spending it relaxing with the hubby! I went and cheered on my sister-in-law (and handed her and a friend a mimosa as they ran by) at the Peachtree Road Race. It is a 4th of July tradition in Atlanta and one of the world's largest 10K races with 60,000 participants. Now I am off to look at paint colors for baby bean's nursery!

Well, the secret has been out for a little while but I am finally finding the time to update the blog world!

The hubby and I are expecting a little boy November 20th and are beyond excited!

Ultrasound at 18 weeks

Between not feeling well at night for the last 3 months (I am still not fully over the morning sickness hump even after 19 weeks), some unexpected travel to see family and a large kitchen renovation that has been in the planning stages, blogging has not been at the top of my priorities! I promise it won't turn into a baby blog but I will have to post a few of my favorite finds for the little bean!

I am ready for a long holiday weekend filled with cook-outs, friends and prepping the nursery!

Well, we have a jam packed weekend with the in-laws in town. I feel like I am constantly making the same recipes for guests so I needed a couple new appetizer ideas to cook up on Friday and Saturday and what better place to go then Pinterest!

Mindless Monday...My Sunday

Last week was not one of my best weeks so I am sorry for the lack of posts. It didn't help that Blogger was down for a bit either. I did have a fabulous weekend including a busy Sunday!

I attended a baby shower that had beautiful flowers and these yummy homemade Hostess treats!

I always make time for my pup Ryder!

My sister Maureen and I worked all weekend on a scrapbook in honor of my sister-in-law, Sarah. I have briefly mentioned her on the blog (here and here) but unfortunately last week she lost her battle with breast cancer. She was an amazing woman and I will always miss her. I am taking this book to my brother and nieces next week and hope they enjoy it as much as we do.

We had an impromptu family dinner last night with our sisters and I made Italian Sausage & Cheese Tortellini soup. It is a favorite in our house and as I was making it I realized that it was a recipe my sister-in-law, Sarah gave to me. It was the perfect meal to have while working on her scrapbook and to wrap up my weekend!

I finally saw the movie Water for Elephants yesterday and loved it! Robert Pattinson and Reese were wonderful and it was actually a little darker than I had expected.

Reese is stunning in the May issue of Vogue. Her fair skin, bleach blonde waves and long satin dresses were flawless.

I also enjoyed The King's Speech last night. It deserved every Academy Award it received.

I am trying to get back in to the swing of things after my long weekend at a cabin in Blue Ridge, GA. The weather and scenery was beautiful! Eating, playing games and relaxing took up most of our time but we did make in to town for some shopping.

To be honest with you I did not plan on paying much attention to the Royal Wedding. Yes, I had my DVR set to record it but I did not get up at 4am to follow along. Well, I flipped it on while getting ready for work and of course found myself glued to the TV. I was fascinated by the fashion, music and the traditions.

With Easter right around the corner a few things come to mind...Easter egg hunts, church, family, brunch and MIMOSAS!

Here is a twist on the classic adapted from this recipe:

Prep: The classic mimosa is equal parts orange juice and Champagne. In this recipe, pineapple juice and grenadine add a twist of flavor and color.

Ingredients

2 cups orange juice (not from concentrate)
1 cup pineapple juice, chilled
2 tablespoons grenadine
1 (750-milliliter) bottle Champagne or sparkling wine, chilled

Preparation:

Stir together first 3 ingredients.
Pour equal parts orange juice mixture and Champagne into Champagne flutes.
Makes 6 cups

She beat it once but unfortunately the cancer came back and she is currently in the process of kicking its butt again. Her strength and positive attitude inspire me and I think of her on a daily basis! Thank you for passing along the award and for being you!

I am not much a sports fan but each year I get a little more sucked in to The Masters. I love that it is played here in Georgia so there is always so much buzz around Atlanta during Masters week. This year's final day did not disappoint, it was a very exciting final round.

I promise you won't see any more sports related posts but I will say going to see The Masters at Augusta National is definitely on my bucket list.

I came across the little brown pen via the blog, Cape 27. She had written about the shop here and these beautiful snapshots of Paris just caught my eye. I love how they are separated in to color stories.

Happy Hour: Rosemary Bliss Cocktail

This cocktail sounds yummy and is so lovely! It reminds me of the Desert Rose cocktail at JCT Kitchen...which is a post for another day! I will be adding it to my list of Summer drinks!

Ingredients:

1 jigger vanilla vodka
½ oz ginger liqueur
1 jigger pear nectar
½ oz house-made rosemary simple syrup-recipe
Splash of fresh lime juice

Shake well over ice; strain and serve over fresh ice in a rocks glass.

Suggested garnish:
Fresh rosemary sprig or skewered candied ginger

I was so happy to have found a pair of neutral wedges on my trip to Chicago and then to find out out I got a deal was even better!

I picked up these Steve Madden wedges in Khaki at Lori's Shoes in Lincoln Park (always a Chicago favorite!) They were $5 less than other stores online-I Googled them while in the store! I later came across the Stuart Weitzman wedges at Nordstrom for about 5 times the price of mine.

I can't wait to start wearing them!

I was so excited when Jillian of Cornflake Dreams told me about the blog crawl she was planning. I know I'm ready for Spring and a vacation. She kicked us off yesterday with a glimpse into her upcoming trip to Portland-be sure to check it out!

I have been wanting to make a trip to Santa Barbara every since I visited CA for the first time last year. We went to San Francisco, Wine Country and Palm Springs. I totally fell in love with CA and couldn't wait to go back.

I was first introduced to Bacara via Couture & Crayons and knew I had to stay there.

I wanted to share a few highlights from my weekend in Chicago while I am getting back in to the swing of things. I had a fabulous time with my BFF shopping, sipping on Starbucks to keep us warm (did you have any of their petite treats?!?!), wandering through Lincoln Park and dined at wonderful restaurants.

I am off to Chicago today to spend the weekend with my best friend Nicole. It has been 7 years (has it really been that long?!?!?) since I lived there so a lot has changed. I am looking forward to trying new restaurants and seeing how the the city has developed.

I stumbled upon Todd Selby's, "The Selby is in Your Place" this past weekend. I definetly want to add it to my library wish list, it's like MTV Cribs in a book! He is is a portrait, interiors, and fashion photographer and illustrator, blogger turned author.

Let me start by saying that I am full! Eating was a regular activity for us but I enjoyed every minute of it.

Happy Friday! I am ready for the weekend and it's time to celebrate. My sister-in-laws and I have a packed weekend of time at the spa, shopping, cocktails and lots of yummy food-tonight Rathbun Steak!

I look forward to the holiday calendar that Megan from mimi + meg creates every month. It gives you a reason to celebrate almost everyday. Today's holiday is not glamorous but it is I did learn that my name means "princess".

Recipe: Buffalo Chicken Wonton Cups

You may know already that one of my favorite appetizers is Buffalo Chicken Dip. I thought these little cups would be a fun twist to the classic. I adapted this recipe...

Rotissierie chicken shredded
1/2 cup of ranch
4 ounces of cream cheese
3/4 cup of shredded cheese
1/4 cup of Franks Red Hot (Buffalo)
1 tbsp olive oil

Mix together chicken, ranch, cream cheese, shredded cheese and hot sauce.

Lightly oil a 24 cup mini muffin pan. Place a wonton skin in each cup. Delicately push the wonton skin in the cup, careful not create a hole in the skin.

Place a little dollup of the chicken mixture into each wonton.

Once all the cups are filled, bake for about 6-7 minutes. Towards the end of the cooking time watch closely because they will turn darker quickly.

They were a hit on Sunday at an Oscar viewing party and may even add a side of ranch for dipping next time. I have added this simple recipe to my appetizer arsenal.

I knew I had to repost this when I saw it. First off, if you don't read the blog of Nicole Cohen Sketch42 you are missing out. She is a talented artist, free-lance writer and has a keen eye for design and all things pretty! Her home was featured in the 3rd issue of Rue.

She was inspired by a post that featured a DIY bracelet based on the Giles & Brother Hex Collection...

I love the rope that Nicole went with and the colors are fabulous. Can you believe that ring is from Home Depot?!?!

I had such a wonderful weekend celebrating the hubby's birthday, watching the Oscar's, and getting my house ready for a house guest next weekend.

My little buddy loved his bagel treat on Saturday morning!

They hubby's birthday is this week but he is headed out of town for a guy's only ski trip, which means I have a lot of fun girly activities planned for my sister-in-laws and I-spa, cocktails and shopping! It's only Monday but I am already looking forward to next weekend. We spent Saturday celebrating by shopping for his presents and enjoyed a long lunch at Bistro Niko.

My sister and her roomate through a small viewing part for the Oscars. Stay tuned later this week for my new appetizer that was a hit!

My choices for best dressed included Gwyneth & Mila. Be sure to check out Sorellina for a fantastic rundown of the fashion from last night.

The first thing that I think of when I see a Butterfly Chair is a dorm room but they are so much more. These classics are the perfect addition for an outside space, adding a pop of color in a corner or neutral pieces that can float around a room.

The Parker in Palm Springs is a gorgeous hotel with retro design by Jonathan Adler and lush grounds with pathways that lead to this firepit. I have been lucky enough to stay there last year for my friends wedding and can't wait to go back! We spent a couple evenings in those chairs!

Kendra Scott throws a party!

I was lucky to meet Camille Styles last December at lavish. She is a fabulous event designer and planner based out of Austin, TX and I am a devoted follower of her blog.

She styled the grand opening of Kendra Scott's flagship store and the event looked amazing! I love how the space was divided and decorated into individual jewel tones. The sequin pillows sprinkled everywhere were the perfect touch of sparkle.

To be honest with you I had not heard of Kendra Scott but fell in love with a few pieces especially these earrings...

They are such a classic style and there are so many colors to choose from. The Danielle Earring is definitely on my wishlist!

Happy Hour: Bubbly Blood Orange Campari Cocktail

I am ready for Spring and Atlanta will be getting a tease this weekend with temperatures into the 70's. I plan on being on my patio for happy hour and would love to have one of these in hand.

Ingredients:

2-3 large blood oranges, juiced, about 1/3 cup juice

1 oz campari

Chilled sparkling wine – choose from prosecco, champagne, cava, brut, etc

Optional garnish – blood orange peel or blood orange slice

Preparation:

Pour 1 ½ oz of blood orange juice in each champagne flute.
Add ½ oz of campari.
Top off each drink with sparkling wine, garnish with a slice of blood orange and enjoy.

Recipe: Sea Salt Chocolate Molten Cakes

You know my love for sweet and salty combinations seen here & here. I was dying to make these sweet little treats ever since I discovered them on one of my favorite blogs Sugarlaws. They were the perfect addition to our family dinner last Sunday.

INGREDIENTS

9 ounces semi-sweet chocolate

6 tbsp butter, softened

3 large eggs

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup flour

1 tsp vanilla extract

3 tbsp Kahlua

1/8 tsp sea salt, plus additional for the tops of the cakes

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Butter two six-muffin tins, and dust the insides with sugar.
On a double-boiler, melt chocolate until smooth, stirring to ensure everything melts. Set aside to cool.
In a separate bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, vanilla, salt, and Kahlua. Add the eggs, one at a time, until all of them are incorporated. Beat in the chocolate and flour and pour the batter into the muffin tins, about 3/4 full. Sprinkle sea salt over the tops of the muffins. Bake for 9-10 minutes, allow to cool, and turn cakes out onto serving plates.

I love to cook but baking...not so much! One of my resolutions this year is to bake more and I can check this successful recipe off the list. Next up are these!

Paper pom-poms are all the rage right now but they go beyond party and wedding decorations. I have seen them used in nurseries and childrens rooms as a way to add a bit of whimsy. There are plenty of DIY guides out there but I am not ready to tackle them quite yet! Party Poms on Etsy has so many color schemes to choose from and garlands.

The week started off with my new blog design be luxe & lillies and it looks fabulous!

There has been a lot of buzz around Anthropologies new wedding line BHLDN that launches on Valentines day. This week a few bloggers got a sneak peek and Joy at Oh Joy was one of the lucky few chosen. Her post made me jealous!

It was a nice to surprise to see Aspiring Kennedy over at Lemon & Lavender sharing the UK way vs the US way in the wedding world...I love the colors and fonts she used!

While perusing Sugarlaws and her look for Fashion Week I came across the recipe for these amazing Chocolate Sea Salt Molten Cakes...how did I miss these in January!

Modcloth has continued to grow with so many different product lines. I will always love their dresses but now you can decorate, accessorize and find any little knick knack for the perfect gift. It's like an inexpensive Anthropolgie

Some things that caught my eye...

1. These colored pencils would be a fun gift or could add a little style to my desk.

2. Big fan of this neutral Maxi dress...I need this for Summer!

3. This versatile bag has 2 strap options and the color so pretty!

4. Love the little pops of color and all of the different flowers in this necklace.

5. The cut out trend is in right now and these shoes are perfect for work or the weekend.

Have you seen the upcoming March cover of Elle with Katy Perry? Her style tends to be on the funky side with skimpy outfits and blue wigs but I am loving this side of her! I am also a fan of the color story which compliments her fair skin tone and dark hair.

I am so excited for the reveal of the new blog design. Keely from luxe + lillies did an awesome job taking my ideas and adding her own tips. I wanted to stick with the chevron theme which was inspired by my business cards shown here.

This recipe at With Style & Grace is right up my alley. Grilled cheese and tomato soup are one of my all time favorites and this is such a unique way to serve it at a party...perfect for Superbowl!

I thought this calendar was such a fun idea and I can't wait to see how Megan celebrates some of these holidays! My favorites are Crab Rangoon Day-I will order Chinese in honor, Tortilla Chip Day-all the guacamole and queso I can eat and Open the Bottle Night-luckily that falls on a Saturday night!

The first edition of High Gloss Magazine was released...Paloma Contreras of La Dolce Vita did a great job putting this together.

Recipes: Garlic & Thyme Potatoes

Sunday dinners are a staple in our house. Last Sunday we hosted our sisters and grilled a pork loin on our Big Green Egg. That was my hubby's responsibility and I focused on the sides. These Garlic and Thyme Potatoes have turned in to one of our favorites.

The recipe that I used is adapted from the one here, over time I have tweaked it a bit.

I love the precise cuts of a mandoline!

I made a lot of potatoes...you can never have too many!

These were some of the biggest garlic cloves I have ever seen

You should invest in a good olive oil-this is one of our treats from Italy!

Bake them at 350 for 35-40 mins or until they get a little crispy

I like a good mix of crispy and soft pieces-yummy!

4 garlic cloves

Coarse salt

1/2 tsp dried thyme

3 tblsps olive oil-give or take

1 1/2 pounds of red new potatoes sliced 1/8 inch thick

Mindless Monday...Sunday Funday!

It felt like Springtime in Atlanta over the weekend but unfortunately it is a rainy Monday morning. I had a relaxing but productive weekend.

First off, I gave my pup Ryder a much needed bath!

We really look forward to Sunday family dinners in our house. Our sisters both live near by so we hosted them for dinner and a movie. The hubby got a Big Green Egg for Christmas which is a post for another day but he made pork tenderloin with a blackberry reduction-so yummy! I made potatoes and green beans for the sides...stay tuned for those recipes later this week.

My SIL was in charge of dessert and her Ricotta Blintzes w/ Boysenberry Syrup did not disappoint!

Another amazing edition Rue Magazine was released. These girls are so talented and I love their vision! It was such an honor to meet them at lavish in December.

I was so jealous of the fun being had in Salt Lake City at the Alt Design Summit but I hope to attend next year. There are so many reviews floating around out there but I particularly liked the one over at With Style & Grace. A new blog I stumbled upon and love!

Feeling Crafty with Felt

I have been eyeing these felt balls for a while now...how fun are they?!?!
